Debbie Miller, Archaeologist and Curator at Independence National Historical Park
Independence Hall stands as a living testament to America’s founding principles. Now preserved by the National Park Service, Independence National Historical Park safeguards the tangible places and symbols that shaped the nation’s identity and continue to inspire global democratic values. This lecture explores the historic site’s evolution into a national shrine, detailing how its stories, artifacts, buildings, and landscapes are actively preserved for future generations.
Debbie Miller is the Archaeologist and Curator at Independence National Historical Park. She also serves as consulting archaeologist at Stenton, and previously worked at AECOM and The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission. Miller is also a technical advisor to the Committee on Historic Designation for the Philadelphia Historical Commission and serves on the Board of the American Ceramics Circle. Her research interests center on early American ceramics, eighteenth-century social and material culture, and historic landscapes.
