Philadelphia Club Lecture: Manners and Customs of Swedish Forefathers in New Sweden, 1638-1656

In March 1957, Dr. Samuel Booth Sturgis, Governor of the Swedish Colonial Society, gave a talk on the subject manners and customs. Although an interesting “take” on the comportment of the Swedes in Colonial era North America, the language and content of the lecture also provides an interesting “snap shot” of mid-twentieth century social sensibilities.
